Thank you for the reply James. Yes I am using the same versions of
alsa-lib and alsa-driver.

$ cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.11.
Compiled on Jul 20 2006 for kernel 2.6.17-ck1-r1.

$ grep VERSION_STR /usr/include/alsa/version.h
#define SND_LIB_VERSION_STR     "1.0.11"
