Thanks again, James. While that may be the most likely issue, I know that it is not. I can reboot into Windows (boo, hisss!) without changing a thing with my speaker setup and 5.1 works just fine. Also as I said before I get output from my sub with speaker-test, it's just on all channels (except when it tests Center and LFE which have NO output). So when it tests FR, FL, BR, BL I can hear the low freq going to the sub, but it shouldn't be. It acts like it's in 4.0 mode all the time. -Nathan $ cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [Audigy2 ]: Audigy2 - Audigy 2 ZS [SB0350] Audigy 2 ZS [SB0350] (rev.4, serial:0x20021102) at 0xac00, irq 82 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
