Hi list members,

I recently a acquired a tecra A6 that has intel HDA and realtek ALC861.
I am running debian etch with kernel 2.6.15-1. I have installed alsa,
alsa-utils, etc and have used both modconf and alsaconf to configure my
sound. alsaconf identifies the sound card as an intel HDA and also
realtek ALC861 (given as ID: 861 in alsamixer). I can play my mp3s
using xmms through the speakers, but found that my microphone and
headphones do not work. Kmix does not have options for mic and Line with
etch. Alsamixer shows the line and mic but there is no slider.
Incidently, running Kubuntu dapper (also the kernel 2.6.15) gives me all
the options in kmix and it works without any problem. Running amixer I get:

Simple mixer control 'PCM',0
  Capabilities: pvolume pswitch
Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right
  Limits: Playback 0 - 255
  Mono:
Front Left: Playback 245 [96%] [on]
Front Right: Playback 245 [96%] [on]
Simple mixer control 'Line',0
  Capabilities: cswitch cswitch-joined cswitch-exclusive
  Capture exclusive group: 0
  Capture channels: Mono
  Mono: Capture [on]
Simple mixer control 'Mic',0
  Capabilities: cswitch cswitch-joined cswitch-exclusive
  Capture exclusive group: 0
  Capture channels: Mono
  Mono: Capture [off]
Simple mixer control 'Capture',0
  Capabilities: cvolume cswitch
Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right
  Limits: Capture 0 - 13
Front Left: Capture 11 [85%] [on]
Front Right: Capture 11 [85%] [on]
Simple mixer control 'Input',0

The only difference I found between running kubuntu dapper live and etch
is that I do not have the devices pcmC0D6c and pcmC0D6p in etch but is
present when running kubuntu dapper live in my /dev/snd

I have found that these 2 devices are found in /dev/.static/dev/snd.

The bottom line is that everything works with kubuntu dapper live and
not in etch.

Can anyone help me get my headphone and mic working?

Thanks

Peter
