Yes - snd-seq-midi is not being loaded on boot - it seems to not load until you replug the device. This is either a bug in ALSA or in your distro's hotplug/udev/whatever setup. You can work around it by adding it to /etc/modules or whatever your distro uses (the distro fragmentation makes it IMPOSSIBLE to give generic advice these days), but it would be much better to identify the bug and get it fixed for real.
