/dev/midi normally is a softlink to /dev/midi0. Do you have the
latter? Then you can just "ln -s" both.

I've heard about this from other users as well. This surely is a nasty
bug, but I cannot help with it. :( I'm sure it has nothing to do with
module configuration, though.

I do know that USB controllers in different machines are often an
issue. For example my Quattro works very good on my main machine, but
I can't use it with period sizes below 2048 on my laptop. This bugs
*me* most...
