For instance, 2 channel audio should automatically be copied to all the outputs on a multichannel card, without changing anything or setting up asound.conf.
Uhh... I sure don't want that. That's unexpected behaviour.
Many people expect that routing. I know I did. Quite frankly, I was a little shocked that it didn't happen automatically. A lot of other people seem to have asked about the issue on this list. Finally, I do quite a bit of end-user support and judging from my knowledge of end-users, I suspect most of them would expect it as well.
