I've been half-reading the ongoing complaining threads, and I think that, overall, the people doing the whining are being unreasonable.
I'm not the only one posting, but I don't think I've been complaining and I don't think I'm unreasonable. I just want to see ALSA become better than the Windows and Linux offerings. I think we need to see some way of automatically delivering the kind of routing that people tend to want.
For instance, 2 channel audio should automatically be copied to all the outputs on a multichannel card, without changing anything or setting up asound.conf. That's what a user would expect most of the time. (Obviously, it should be optional, but on by default.) Things like that would help tremendously. How would it be best to implement something like that?
