Well, after doing some research, my aging Thinkpad probably won't work 
very well as a DAW. No external firewire support, and I don't think the 
USB chipset will handle the kind of throughput required. That said, my 
Thinkpad is not going to be replaced for a loooong time.

All things considered, I think I'm going to go with the Delta 44.
