I built the CVS version fetched from CVS. No difference I think, except
for the changed module names.

The output from readport, with the settings you gave above and the CVS
version:

[root@draak ttonino]# ./readport 0xcc00 0x40
addr = 0xcc00, size = 64
00: 00 00 01 00
04: 44 6c 00 00
08: 1f 00 29 00
0c: 00 00 01 08
10: c0 00 00 00
14: 00 00 80 00
18: 00 00 88 00
1c: 00 00 fe ff
20: 10 40 b8 00
24: 03 0d 00 00
28: ff ff ff ff
2c: ff ff ff ff
30: 00 00 00 00
34: 00 00 00 00
38: 00 00 00 00
3c: 00 00 00 00

I tried the following:

- Playing through OSS. Quiet spdif. Enabling IEC958 Dac to Out gives the
distorted sound.
- Playing with aply, no parameters: same effect as above.
- Playing with aplay -D spdif: no output on spdif. Gives error after
about 10 seconds (aplay: pcm_write:935: write error: Input/output error)
and exits after 20 seconds.

Any other suggestions or things I can try?

Thomas
