Thank you, James. I folloewd your suggestions, installed the latest beta drivers, and now I am here:
------------ snip ------------ cat /proc/asound/sndstat Sound Driver:3.8.1a-980706 (ALSA v0.9.0beta8a emulation code) Kernel: Linux cedar 2.4.10 #1 Mon Oct 29 23:00:42 CET 2001 i586 Config options: 0 Installed drivers: Type 10: ALSA emulation Card config: ICEnsemble ICE1712 at 0xb400, irq 9 Audio devices: 0: ICE1712 multi (DUPLEX) Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG Midi devices: 0: MPU-401 (UART) Timers: 7: system timer Mixers: 0: mixer00 ------------ end of snippet -------------- The envy24control mixer shows nice activity when I play some file with mpg123 or aplay but I can still hear nothing. What would you suggest now? BTW, as the Midiman Delta 44 has no internal connector for the CD-ROM drive audio output - do you have an idea if it is possible to have the SB Live card and a midiman running as cards 0 and 1 in the same machine?
