This is a very common discussion, and in fact sparked some Discord discussion that I wanted to bring to the list. Retroactive blots are messy because they don't just impact winning but also voting strength. Other potential solutions include a timer, illegal actions preventing wins (which is similar to retroactive, but with a bit less recalculation to do), and the current system of just hoping nobody intentionally cheats to win because that's very rude.
