The state wants our BDC data, strange they can’t just get it from the feds.
They should contact the DOGE boys, they have all the data.

Since we contract it out now, I got the .csv file from them and was going to
forward it to the state, but it turns out they want it as a .zip archive,
uploaded with a filename that is formatted just so with our ISP name and FRN
and stuff. Like chewing a worm for a baby bird.

So screw that. We won’t be getting any BEAD money, and submitting our BDC data
isn’t going to stop them from subsidizing someone else to overbuild us. It
feels exactly like telling us to dig our own grave. Or it rubs the lotion on
its skin or else it gets the hose again.

with a short shelf life

The director of BEAD quit. He says the previous rules interpreted the bill to
mean that only FTTH would meet the performance and future-proofing
requirements. He is claiming that there are proposed rule changes that will
allow Starlink but not allow fixed wireless. I don't know whether the changes
intentionally benefit Starlink, but this guy is crying foul and felt strongly
enough about it to resign over it.

I’m surprised BEAD hasn’t run into problems because the E stands for Equity and
DEI is now banned.

But if they eliminate the E, would it just be BAD?
