They attack "DEI" because no one knows what it's about. If they had
called it "fairness in hiring", they would have a tougher time attacking
it. How would it sound to say you're against fairness?
Similar (but different) with Antifa, which was shortening of
anti-fascist. If they said we're in favor of fascism, it might not have
played a well.
