I filed 2-3 claims, all on our Inland Marine Policy. We had a reel trailer get
stolen, we backed over our Underground Magnetics locator. Both large claims.
The policy did not increase afterwards.

And we have had the odd workers comp claim now and then.

And on our GL policy we had workers hit peoples parked cars a few times.
Nothing major. And I don’t recall the premium ever increasing for any of them.
But I have had many years of coverage so a pretty good record. I highly
recommend Inland Marine if you can afford it. It covers people stealing from
the back of your truck. It covers the machines on the trailers if they get
stolen or damaged during a wreck. Your regular auto insurance will not do
that.

When I was starting up, its was hard to get anyone to respond or get a quote
out because of all the variables. Hartford was recomended so i went with them.
But it seems you dont have an actual agent to talk to.

I've never had a claim before so I dont know the consequenses of filing one.

I don’t use them. I have always used an independent insurance agent that
shop all the companies. My agent works for me and tries to save me money. So
there is never a risk to visit about things. He also personally visits every
single time there is some change in policies. On the very few occasions I have
filed claims he fights for my case with whoever is underwriting the claim.

Any of you fine gents use the Hartford for general liability?

Is there some method to talk to an agent with these guys without filing a
claim? Calling just circles me to claims agents, and they wont tell me anything.
Im just trying to find out what the impact of a small claim is with these
guys and whether its best to just pay out of pocket if the liability does fall
on me.
I dont want to save a couple grand out of pocket to have my rates skyrocket
or coverage cancelled since its a new account, but then again, I pay for more
coverage than I need for what I do so its kind of a waste to not use it.

If any of you guys have filed a claim with them, how smooth is the process?
