I assume you are referring to the fact that the Netonix POE will supply enough voltage and/or current to keep the GDT arc alive once a lightning strike has triggered it.  While the Packetflux soft fuse will trip, interrupt the arc, and then reset itself.

So my question is about other types of POE, like those used for licensed radios.  Either a regular brick type POE, or something like the Cambium/Ceragon outdoor DC powered POE.  Should we avoid using the Cat6/GDT surge suppressors with those and instead use a GigE-HV model?

No.  No surge suppressor will work with Netonix.

Once they fire they short out the line and Netonix poe circuit will croak.

That is why we created the ethernet fuse products.

Netonix really needs to take a chapter from the Packetflux book of how to design POE.

Gas tubes work good with netonix?

Damn it Mathew!

I really can't quantify the surge cards have or have not helped.  I can say, though, where we have them it's definitely not hurting.  I'd really prefer to have one card to make it simpler as well.

I started using the CAT6 for pretty much everything, unless it's a site where I've had problems with lightning damage in the past. It's just simpler to not have to worry about which one to use with which radio, and they're a bit cheaper, so that's nice too.

Cambium equipment Ethernet circuitry is very susceptible to crc and frame check errors.  Even with nothing but a cat5 cable it will have errors.  Surge suppressors that use solid state components exacerbate this problem.  Even the surge products they manufacture will cause this problem.  So, I created the CAT6 100% Gas Discharge Tube line of products to prevent these errors on Cambium.

They fire a bit slower than a solid state surge suppressor but are very robust.  As popular as they are, I presume people are starting to use them on everything.  Personally I would use the GIGE line everywhere I could as it does offer better protection.

Would everything else work with gas tubes as well?  I'd prefer to buy one part that works with everything.

I've been using the GIGE-APC on ePMP just fine.  When you say Cambium, do you mean 450x hardware?

I'm looking for a spreadsheet or chart to show compatibility options for rackmount SS's. Can't seem to find anything and I'm unclear which ones I need. I'd like to remove all my 600ss and streamline to something modular and rack mountable.

I'm looking for SS's for...

- Cambium 450M

- Cambium 450

- Cambium ePMP 2000

- Cambium FSK 100

- Cambium PMP 320

Can someone help me mach up part numbers please?
