Like I said, not interested in arguing. This is mostly just a bunch of contradictions to what I said. To each his own. My conclusion is that I am not willing to stake my career on the underdog alternative, when I know I can safely buy the sun hardware and solaris. I experimented once by buying solaris on dell. It was a proven failure, but that's why I did it on a cheap noncritical backup system experimentally before expecting it to work in production.
