Yes, I think this might have been it. I missed the NIGHTLY_OPTIONS variable in opensolaris and I think it was compiling a debug build. I'm not sure what the ramifications are of this or how much slower a debug build should be, but I'm recompiling a release build now so hopefully all will be well.
