Actually, I love the MSDN Forums approach, with "helpful" and "Answers". The
syntax highlighting is good (I haven't tried it out on the new forum,
though).

The built-in basic code syntax highlighting functionality on this new forum
is replaced by a much better GeSHi syntax highlighter which applies code
syntax highlighting to make the code a lot easier to read in posted
messages.
When you write a message which includes some WiX code, you just need to use
the following tags to make your code easier to read:
[code=XML]...[/code]
Or
[XML] tags can also be used around your code.

A forum instead of a mailing list would go a long way to solve the problem.
While vBulletin is standard out of the box, I actually like the feature over
at the Microsoft forums where topics can be attributed as a Question and as
Answered. This allows a group of volunteers to see who has been assisted and
who has not.
BTW, this is one place where I feel that their is a disconnect between the
leaders and the users of WiX. I've posted over 3,500 times on InstallShield
Community helping many, many people over the years and personally I don't
see what the big complaint is about going to a forum based system.
