My $0.02:

I've been using the Platform SDK MSI bootstrapper with WiX to support
installs and minor upgrades just fine. No experience with other
scenarios though.

We're working on managed DLLs and associated CA .exe to configure IIS7
with the expectation that WiX won't support it before we have to. DTF
will help out a lot here, but native WiX CA's would be great for IIS
7.

How about sponsoring an OpenBSD-style hackathon to squash those bugs
over the course of a week? I've submitted a couple bug reports and
fixes myself (user lb008d) and would be willing to help out with an
effort like that.

Finally, thanks for a great open-source setup toolkit. The fewer black
boxes I have to deal with when coding the better!
