WiX v2 *is* out of beta. It has been for a good many months (http://robmensching.com/blog/archive/2008/02/17/WiX-toolset-on-SourceForge-marked-ProductionStable.aspx). We're going to have to do an "SP1" to add the MSI4.5 features to WiX v2 in the not too distant future but that will be 100% backwards compatible and done very carefully to minimize regressions.
