Hello again.
Just another curiosity.
I've never installed a firmware for iwlwifi; however I've seen in another
thread that I should perhaps use fwget.
Currently firmware is still in sys/ but will be removed soon-ish.
#fwget
Needed firmware packages: 'gpu-firmware-intel-kmod-geminilake
wifi-firmware-iwlwifi-kmod-9000'
pkg: No packages available to install matching
'wifi-firmware-iwlwifi-kmod-9000' have been found in the repositories
Why is that? Which version of FreeBSD are you on?
In ports I see net/wifi-firmware-iwlwifi-kmod, but it seems it's not the same
thing.
It is; the -9000 at the end is a flavour as you only need the firmware
bits for these chipsets but not for all the possible cards.
Should I install it?
Probably a good idea so once the one from sys will be removed you'll be
streamlined already.
Apparently it doesn't make any difference...
It does a tiny bit; it prepare for the future.
