It would not surprise me (in general, as I do not know anything about them in particular) - given the surprising vanity and the peer-pressure on scientists at a few schools (the ones who are not as competent as they pretend to be) - if - at some future date, someone tries to sneak your suggestion into another paper without attribution. or has that already happened :-) The "Peter Principle" . actually, Dilbert's version - is as relevant at Universities as at Large Corporations IMO. One is more likely to get a thoughtful response from the most competent people in the field, and less likely from the wannabes.
