James,

Well I'm hardly a guru, but may be able to help you.
The "server" (your office PC) should have an option when you right mouse
click the system tray icon that allows you to permit the viewer to control.
Sorry I can't tell you exactly. I only have the viewer on this machine and
don't have access to the "server" at the moment. If the option menu doesn't
pop up, then you may have installed the modified version that prohibits the
user on the "server" PC (your office) to change any settings such as remote
control. It also doesn't show any color change in the icon so that the user
is unaware. However, you can still make changes by finding the program file
through Windows Explorer or your Start bar menus. If this doesn't help, I
would check the version you have and re-install. Make sure you uninstall the
old version first.

You are correct, the viewer is for controlling your office PC. However,
there is a setting in the viewer that needs to be unchecked as it's checked
by default. When you first open the vncviewer.exe file you should have an
Options button in the lower right. Go there. The lower right quadrant has an
option called "View Only(inputs ignored)" This option must be unchecked.
There is no installation procedure for the viewer. Simply run the exe. If
you are having problems here, I would recommend downloading the program
again, possibly from another source, as your original may be corrupted.

Good luck.

Alan

Hi,

Thanks. It seems that I found the right person to talk to.
I am struggling to figure out WinVNC.

I need a help from guru!

This is something I need help. When I right clicked on WinVNC icon (in
system tray) on my office computer, I do not see any "option". I think this
is the problem.

>If the name of your computer is showing, you obviously have connection.

When I bring cursor over the WinVNC icon (in my system tray), what I see is
"WinVNC - "IP#".

When I clicked on VNC viewer, I see the "option". I thought that VNC
viewer is to use from home computer to see the screen of my office computer.
Anyway, when I looked in the Option, I do not anything to do with "enable
remote control from the viewer".

Your assistance would be appreciated.

Regards,

James
