Where can I get ssh2? Perhaps my windows client (putty) doesn't forward correctly? If I'm able to connect with ssh2, then it must be my client. I just downloadedd putty 0.52 whose docs specifically mention that it does tunneling/forwarding. > ssh2 -L 5901:mycomputer.ncsu.edu:5900 mycomputer.ncsu.edu -l myuserid I'm guessing mycomputer.ncsu.edu is linux, since you say "redirection ... to a linux machine". I can get putty to work if I start vncserver without -localhost. Try starting vncserver with -localhost and see if your ssh2 will connect. I don't see why mycomputer, with -localhost, would accept a connection from a windows box external to it. Let me know how -localhost works for you.
