The protection that a "personal firewall" offers is slight, at best. Considering that Windows will just let programss waltz all over each other's RAM, nothing can really be called "secure" on Windows. What really WILL enhance security is SSH. There's a windows client called "tunnelier" I think. It basically works like a very tiny VPN.
