I've even downloaded the files again as I rebuilt my server twice in the
last month due to hardware trouble but still had issues. Hmm, I think the
other servers, which I don't control, are running older versions. I will
see if I can get them to upgrade them.

  Check that you are definitely running R9.  (Use the About option on
  the tray
  icon!)  R9 fixed a bug that gave the exact behaviour you describe -
  the
  clipboard would stop working after a while in a session.  It was
  because the
  clipboard hooks were unregistered when the current desktop changed
  and never
  re-registered.
