Thanks for the reply. Yes. I'm running it on Display 0.

The viewer can't connect and neither can telnetr but I think I should come clean and
say that I only gave half the picture. I'm behind a firewall at the remote end too and
I have no influence over this whatsoever. Could this be causing the problem?

As I said I do reach the winvnc server to logon so I thought that was getting through
this firewall OK.

Thanks again

Just to eliminate one portion of the problem, try doing this directly to port
5900 - which means using the "native" VNCViewer for testing.

(1) I assume you have the service running on Display 0. Try running the
VNCViewer and see if it can connect.

(2) Try telnetting to the VNC Server on port 5900. Using the Win2K/XP telnet
client, you can just do it with:

telnet <your-public-ip-address> 5900

Using the NT4/Win9x/Me telnet, just start "telnet" then go to Connect | Remote
System and type in the IP address, with 5900 as the Port.
IF you are able to reach the system, you will get something like RFB 003.003
echoed back to you.
