I turned this off as well. If I am connected to wifi I want my phone to only use that, if I have wifi off, then it can use the cell data connection, I don't want my device deciding what to use, I guess I am somewhat of a control freak when it comes to my devices, but I don't like when they take things in to their own hands.

I read this story using one of my local television station's app on my iPhone, and thought everybody should know about this. I will post the link to the story at the end. IOS 9 contains something called WiFi assist, which is meant to boost a weak WiFi signal by supplementing it with your lte data. This seems to me to be a back door way to run up one's data bill, so the phone companies can collect extra money , being that it is turned on by default. I turned it off. Go to settings, cellular, and find it near the bottom of the long list of things that can access one's cellular data. I think it should be turned off by default. Perhaps I am being overly paranoid.
