This was several years back when I had Uerse, was one of the first to get it
where I lived back then, but haven't had it now in several years. At first, you
could easily schedule stuff on the web, but then had to remember the DVR layout
to play things back, but at least there was a button that put you right into
the list of shows so you could play from top to bottom, and when it's over,
count so many down, OK a few times andd be deleting and playing the next one.
Later they added a lot more flash to the scheduling site, but if I got lucky, I
could still kind of do it but it wasn't so good until I found a mobile version.
I understand now that it might work similar to the Tivo you describe in that
you can at least schedule on the app, if their website still sucks. I'm not
sure if they are doing device streaming or controlling the box's playback
though, since the place Im in right now can't get the TV part of Uverse.

I have not found a way to turn on audio description. I am a Time Warner
customer and have no problem streaming protected content to my phone. Airplay
is not an option but bluetooth should work. What is the accessibility of the
uverse solution? I know a blind individual who may be interested in that.

Is the setting to turn on SAP/audio description accessible through the app,
or with an easy button on the remote? I've heard on other lists that it isn't
so good on the boxes Time Warner provides. Even still, it'd be nice to have a
recorder I can actually use again like I sort of had for awhile when I was in a
Uverse part of town. Finally, does it let you airplay to a speaker dock, and/or
stream copy protected stuff to the phone? From my research, TWC protects just
about everything, not just premium channels.

I know TiVo comes up from time to time as an accessible DVR option. I've
written a fairly detailed review of it from the perspective of a blind user
using the iOS app which can be found at
      http://www.blindtech.net/?p=33
The short summary is setup is not accessible but if you have the
disposable income and an iOS device the TiVo is worth buying if you want an
accessible DVR solution.
