On a related note, I'm wondering why the OSE editions that come with Ubuntu
is a stone age behind sun's versions.
I'm running a _regularly updated_ version of Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope.
And the virtualbox version I have is 2.1.4. No usb support, no 64 bit (!!),
no virtual appliances, etc.
They are pretty conservative with many packages, not just with VBox.
My guess is: it's because there are so many packages in the repositories
(probably the most "endowed" distro in this regard), there's not enough
manpower to keep them up to date with upstream. It's the price you pay
for the thousands of packages available at a "sudo apt-get install".
Not a big deal in this case, the package on virtualbox.org works pretty
well and it's easy to replace the one that comes with the distro.
