Don't get me wrong on this. It's certainly possible to live by consulting and
implementation jobs as you provide solutions for business needs but I
think that's not comparable
with getting funded for creating a technical framework.
For that you need a relatively large group of dedicated technical
supporters. And because of the fractured
webframework space I don't think the funding model works for web
frameworks in general.
But feel free to try.
