Well, MIMEDefang is not the only kid on the block doing this.
More popular are:
* amavisd-new, which works with Postfix as well as Exim
(https://www.amavis.org) and
* MailScanner, which works with both MTAs as well
(https://www.mailscanner.info).
Both are able to integrate Clamav/another virus scanning engine and to
inspect and handle archive files.
