Sounds like you are giving them the "benefit of the doubt"... which is fine. But I don't really think that so many of my clients actually explicity checked "subscribe" somewhere on a Staples web site. More likely... they bought something from Staples or elsewhere and failed to uncheck "receive special offers"... and I'm still somewhat giving them the benefit of the doubt in that scenario.
