I have used Thunderbird since it came out and they made sure it is the
servant and not the master. Easy to setup, has good built in tools for
selecting server connections and ports and selecting your desired level
of security. It will import all mail lists and settings, selectively if
you want.
GO FOR IT!

I use AOO and Office 2007. I use office word very little, just for certain
things like address labels, and Outlook. Can anyone tell me anything about
Thunderbird, or give me info on a Thunderbird list? I want to see if I can
set up my groups and all of my addresses in Thunderbird and stop using
Outlook.
As one who has to endure Outlook at work, my question is why anyone
would use it if they didn't have to? It's easily the worst email app
I've ever used. Thunderbird is much better. Go for it!
