Jack, It’s a free download, so just go to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ and download it. Check the “Features” link at the bottom of that page. Google around for tutorials and forums.
Like any FOSS (Free/Open Source Software) it will have a learning curve. It will do things differently from Outlook. I “think" you can set it up as a data source in AOO, and use that for your mailing labels. (There are label templates out there. You’ll have to look for them.) Hope this helps.
