Regarding "...don't want to loose existing files..." so long as the Windows 10 install is done as an upgrade and not as a new installation your data files will not be affected. Just yesterday I monitored an upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Only two programs were affected. They were related to CD burning and authoring, were reported not compatible during the upgrade, and were programs that were preinstalled on the pc when it came from the factory. I expect that AOO will be compatible and will not be affected by the upgrade. (This is only my expectation and not based on actual experience as I have not upgraded a Windows 8.1 pc with AOO to Windows 10.) I suggest doing the upgrade to 4.1.1 whenever most convenient for you before or after the Windows upgrade process. Since you're already familiar with Windows 8.1 perhaps before upgrade before so you can do it without also having to navigate through a new interface.
