Yes.
I delete and click to cancel and also cancel in the top material, ...
It's easier than you are making out. The problem appears when you
press Enter to start the next paragraph, and OpenOffice Writer offers
the next number in sequence. Immediately the second number (that you
don't want) appears, go to Edit | Undo or just press Ctrl+Z. The
AutoCorrection will be removed, leaving you with just the paragraph
break that you wanted.
... but the next time I use a number, it again starts to
automatically add and indent.
If you really want to turn this facility off completely, go to Tools |
AutoCorrect Options... | Options and remove the tick from "Apply
numbering - symbol: *".
