mount <what> <where> <options> e.g. mount /dev/sr0 /mnt <what> being the device to mount <where> being where to mount it The /mnt directory is usually already there as a place to manually mount things on a temporary basis. You could create other locations to mount things on, but then possible have a SELinux fight. And using it, instead of some other places, means that you won't clash with other things that auto-mount inserted media. <options> being some parameters about how to mount it Quite often you won't need to provide any options, the system will figure various things out automatically and assume some defaults. The options aren't necessarily at the end of the command, that was only a very simplified example. Parts of a mount command may have their own options, or it may not be important where they're placed. On that note, I remember when man files used to have useful examples at the end of them. But see various man files, now, that have none. Not to mention explaining functions with unexplained jargon. -- uname -rsvp Linux 3.10.0-1160.119.1.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jun 4 14:43:51 UTC 2024 x86_64 (yes, this is the output from uname for this PC when I posted) Boilerplate: All unexpected mail to my mailbox is automatically deleted.
