"latest hplip" Do you mean the Fedora packaged version? Or upstream HP packages? (rpm -q hplip / rpm -qi hplip) "unless I downgrade" To which version? How are you downgrading? Commands? Versions? Again, rpm details? "dnf search hplip" shows there's a bundled, (presumably) tested Fedora version. You mention hp-setup, that is provided by Fedora (dnf provides hp-setup), but if you're running an upstream version you might run into library/linking compat problems. For starters compare "ldd /usr/bin/hp-setup" for the 'working downgraded version' against the non working version. If you have borked deps... (And finally, maybe don't top-post. I'm not precious, but many people dislike it.)
