In general, you let dnf do it for you. If it is broken, you have bigger fish to
fry.
As you recall, I asked you about kernels showing up in /boot/efi, this is one
of the cases where dnf is operating correctly, but due to local configuration,
dnf installs the vmlinuz files in the wrong place. It sounds like there’s
something similar going on for you, a piece of the kernel package post-install
is failing.
A good thing to try is to run “dnf reinstall kernel-core” and see if you see
any errors. Also check if new files are installed in /boot and
/boot/loader/entries/. Check the logs in /var/log, there are a bunch of
dnf-specific logs.
At this point I’m not even sure what version of Fedora you are running, since
it’s a toss-up on what package of dnf you are using. It’s like assembling a
jigsaw puzzle through the phone, speaking to someone who is in a dark room.
Neither of us know what piece is being fit.
It’s up to you to figure out what’s going on, use your consulting skills to
determine the fault, and when to call it and reinstall.
