I would think going from RAID to non-RAID would make drive cloning a
problematic method to approach it.  And hardware RAID may also throw in
a few curveballs.  Although RAID 1 is just a bunch of cloned discs
essentially in parallel, they *may* have been prepared in a custom way
to suit that RAID that makes directly booting one by itself a bit of a
challenge.

Having said that, you could try it.  Unplug a disc from the RAID, and
try booting from it as the only drive connected directly to a
motherboard.

Another couple of issues with cloning drives:

If the new drive is bigger, you can end up with some unused wasted
space.  With some systems it's not too difficult to expand it to use
the full drive, others not (I definitely couldn't do that on the Mac
sitting next to me).

And whatever filing system you used on your RAID *may* not be the best
choice for a SSD.
