I know.  I started off personal computing on Amigas, where filename
suffixes weren't part of the file type determination.  Other than raw
plain text, every file had identifiers in their header.  But it is a
handy thing for *me* when doing a directory listing to quickly see what
something is, or to wildcard filter the listing to find something.

And I tend to use full words, like .text and .jpeg, because I was never
held captive by the stupid three letter suffix limitations of various
Mickysoft OSs.
