Hi Jay,

Thanks again. I see what you mean. here is my command line argument for 
starting UML now:

 ./linux-2.6.24-rc7 ubda=FedoraCore5-x86-root_fs mem=128M 
eth0=tuntap,,,192.168.0.254

Right now what I have is the followinge rror message:

SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not permitted


I get it first while the machine is booting and second when I try to run  
"ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.253 up" at the guest shell. In both guest and host, I 
am root.

I found on the web that this might be related to permissions issue related to 
/dev/net/run. I changed the permission of this file in the guest machine to 
777. Still, it didn't solved my problem.

Any further idea?
