Yes, I did not see a sef fault on 2.6.15.

But, the kernel panics when it fails to mount the root filesystem.

Please append a correct "root=" boot option

You've replied to this problem in:

Using which I enabled, CONFIG_BLK_DEV_UBD. I have also enabled,
CONFIG_HOSTFS. But, this did not help.

Anything else I am missing ?
