hi Jeff, Yes, I did not see a sef fault on 2.6.15. But, the kernel panics when it fails to mount the root filesystem. --- VFS: Cannot open root device "ubd0" or unknown-block(0,0) Please append a correct "root=" boot option Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) ---
You've replied to this problem in: http://lkml.org/lkml/2005/12/4/97 Using which I enabled, CONFIG_BLK_DEV_UBD. I have also enabled, CONFIG_HOSTFS. But, this did not help.
