Because RR/LC documentation has always been inadequate.

As a result I gave up reading it and started thinking for myself.

Ah, but in this case it's my dialectics. :) It was largely written at the request of Scott Raney who got tired of preaching about it. He told me the day that page went up he'd already referred two people to it, which saved him a lot of time.
