Your summarization are IMO right, Jonas.

I am not quite sure that the bug is really "fixed" in the stated 
kernel-versions. The bug just does not appear when using it, right? Maybe thats 
just a coincidence!?
My point is, that the X-Server freezes with the jaunty-kernel 2.6.28 and nobody 
could yet specify what is causing this freezes. Furthermore, nobody could 
specify which change in the kernel-history "fixed" the problem.
Julien Cristau from the Debian-team said [1] that this "sounds like a gpu 
lockup".  I am not an expert on this subject but this may be caused by a bug in 
a kernel-driver as well as in the radeon-driver or xorg itself.

Regarding the "second bug" which is still existant when using 2.6.29 the
question is the same: Which code is causing this freeze?

Should we open another bug report for the "second bug" which is not
reproducible by Jonas' script?
