Hmmm... it seems to be fine for me. Does the 'cursor' position in the bottom left of the spacebar hop along at double speed too? I cannot see anything in the settings that would indicate playback rate. Has it ever worked? Maybe try completely uninstalling transcriber, trashing /etc/transcriber and reinstall... I could have understood the problem if it were with the mp3, but not the ogg. Have you tried the low res ogg, and the mp3s?
