Do they playback fine in other apps?
Thanks for the reply, Stephen. I am experimenting with .ogg files, including the last UUK podcast. The files play fine in Totem; but in Transcriber they seem to be playing back around 25% or more faster. Interestingly, this does not distort the pitch, only the speed, so that the band that plays us in to the podcast sounds normal, except that the musicians are clearly racing to get finished so they can get to the pub, and the people speaking seem to be in a speed-talking competition, but using their normal voices. However, normal pitch not withstanding, the speed does make transcription harder (I can't type that fast!). Anyway, now I know it's working for you, and there's no obvious setting that you have to adjust, I'll clearly need to dig about a bit more to woek out what's going on. Thanks very much for the info.
