stop fricking MS bashing,
Ubuntu promoting doesn't automatically mean MS bashing. I read Josh's email as Ubuntu promotion, no bashing in sight (excluding the 'tongue in cheek' marketing slogan). If we're entering a phase of desktop users looking to switch then it is an ideal time to try to market Ubuntu so as to offer extra choice. In terms of influencing longer term adoption trends I believe that it is important to get into schools, but I think that this will become ever more difficult as school IT purchasing decisions are made at local authority level where the decision is made following a tender process with big companies not offering open source alternatives. Local schools can still choose their own, but the majority will go with the local authority. I guess that writing to MPs and councillors is the only way to try to influence this, but as far as I am aware it isn't that open source offerings are being sidelined, rather that no bidders are coming to the table offering as such. Good luck gathering momentum Josh - sorry I have no insightful comments to add which will aid you. -- Stephen O'Neill w: http://www.thefloatingfrog.co.uk/ e: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
