Insert it into the earth hole. That is how it's supposed to work - that is why the earth pin is longer on plugs. It also dramatically reduces the chances of you electrocuting yourself if you forget to unplug the multi-socket strip, or need to do this on a more permanent socket. Thats not really true, I have plenty of charging bricks which have a plastic earth pin whose only function is to move the plates covering the live/neutral holes.
